Greetings, I'm Terynce!
After ten years of teaching English at a school for the Deaf and two years in a mainstream environment, this year I'm a visiting teacher-researcher in Toulouse, France. Students are studying to become interpreters, translators, or mediators.
I moved to Toulouse from its Sister City of Atlanta, where I'm studying Curriculum and Instruction at Georgia State University, specializing in language and literacy. My dissertation will focus on the experiences of deaf people in the United States learning world languages. I completed my MS in Secondary Education of the Deaf from NTID/RIT and my BA in English from the University at Buffalo.
When I'm not teaching...
I enjoy reading with special emphasis on science fiction and non-sparkly vampires. I'm a big fan of the NY Mets, the Buffalo Bills, and soon to be fan of Toulouse FC!
I love to travel by car, plane, or boat. A trip to France in 10th grade changed my outlook on life and a goal I have is to live there (and look at me now!). I have a LONG list of places I want to visit. I enjoy taking pictures, but no longer have a dedicated camera. I love musicals, hate concerts.
I've a goal of seeing a game in every MLB park and have five remaining (since Texas has a new stadium) as of October 2023. I also want to visit every continent and have four remaining. I started kizomba about six weeks prior to Covid, but maybe I should switch back to argentine tango considering I'm in the birthplace of Carlos Gardel.
Welcome!
